ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1973-74 TO
APPROPRIATE $35 1 000 FOR COMPLETION OF A DEMONST~~TJON
PROJECT AT THE REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL PLANT
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article
III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council did on
June 18, 1973, adopt a budget for fiscal year 1973-74; and
WHEREAS, the Council has included in its budget for 1973-74
provisions for the performance of a demonstration project at the
Regional Water Quality Control Plant concerning the use of digital
computers . for controlling thn activated sludge process; and
WHEREAS, the Council has also included ill it:J budget for
1973-74 provisions for the receipt of monies from the governments
of the State of California and the United States of America to fund
this project; and
WHEREASf the Environmental Protection Agency of the United
States Government has provided additional funding for continuation
of this project in the amount of $35,0001 and
WHEREAS, the additional work ca~led for in the added funding
will be performed by the City of Palo Alto either directly or
th:i:ough contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. The sum of $35,000 be appropriated in contract
services for continuation of the project to demonstrate the use
of the digital computer in controlling the activated sludge process
at the Regional Water Quality Control Plant.
SECTION 2. The sum of $35,000 be budgeted as other revenues
to be received into the sewer utility fund for funding the con
tinuation of the demonstration project.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective immediately
as provided in Section 12 of Article III of the Charter and Section
2.04.375 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code.
