Tilis report recommends that Council award a cootract to 3-J Coostruction Company, Inc~ in
the amount 0($104,500 10 rcroofBuilding B of the Municipal Service Center located at 32t)l
East Bayshore Road.
RECOMMENDATIONS
I. StalI'recommends WoI Council approve and aulhoriu the MayO( 10 execute the attached
cootract with 3-1 Cor.structioo Ccr.npany, Inc, in the amount of $104,500 for the
Munkipal Service Center BUll ding B Reroof.
2. Authorize the Cily Manager 0( her designee 10 negotiate and execute one 0( more change
O(ders to the contract with 3-1 Coostruction Company, Inc, the total value of which
change orders shaTI not exceed S 10,500.

EXWmyE SUMMARY
. Building B is one ofsixroofreplacements being accomplisbed under CIP 19514. This roof is
I S years old and bas required extensive repair. Patching bas become ineffective and cost
prohiblti ye. An related repairs to the sheetmetal, roof deck, and To.:>! structure will be made at
this time.
Plans and specifications were maHed 10 len cootractors and five buiJders' exchange;; OIl July S,
I m. and subsequently picked up by five .:<>ntra<.'IorS, for • total of fifteen cootrac!o<S. Bids
were received li:om five qualified contractors on July 25, 1995. as listed on the attarhed
summary (Attachment A). The three week bid period was adequate 10 ensure competitive
