The FiR Mar.lbaI'f Office lOr SaD'" Clara County administers the coruract for weed abatemenl wilbin
~ City of Palo Alto, in .~ wi!h an agreement between the City and County.
On November 7. 1994. in accordance with Chapter 8.08 of tile PLio Alto Municipal Code, City
Council declared weeds 10 be • nuisance and ordered that the ouisance be abated. A Public Hearing
was beld 00 December 19. 1994. lOr !he objections 10 !he proposed destruction or removal of !he
weeds.
0nQe !he above steps had been taken, the County Fire Marshars Offi<:e instruc1ed its cootraclor 10
abate weeds on City and private properties within Palo Altt>. That w"'" bas now been completed.
Property OWDQ1 were notified !he first w .. l in November 1994 that weeds were 10 be abated by
Man:II. I. 1994. eilher by the own=, or by !he County. l(the property owners chose 10 have the
Coomy abate !he weeds. the abatement charges were levied against the respective properties as an

WHBREAS" t.he Council of the City of Palo Alto has
heretofore declared weeds growing on certain properties within the
City to be " public nuisance lly Resolution No. 'HB, dated
November 7~ 1994; and
WHBRv.s, the Cc>uo<:il on December 19, 1994, did a~
]tesolutiOll No .. 7475 thereby ordering the weed nuisance abated; and
WHERRAS ... subsequeo.t eo the giving of said notice, the Pire
Chief, through his AdmiDistr~tor, the Santa Clara County Fire
Marshal'. Office, has caused to be abated the weeds on tbe herein
described properties; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chlef# through his Administrator. the
Sant.a Clara County Fire Marsbal '5 Office ... has filed his report and
assessme!l.t It&t. for weed abatement as provided by law and a hearing
has been duly set and noticed... for Objections to said report and
assessment list and for confirmation; and
WHEREAS. the Council bas duly considered the report and
assessment list and -any Object100s thereto;
NOW, Tl!I!REFORE, the City council of the City of Palo Alto
does herelly RESOLVE as foHows:

respects carplet.e and correct and is hereby COD.firmed~ The amounts
of t.he cost for abating the nuisance are coc.firmed and: those
remaIning unpaid... as shown on Exhibit -A-attached hereto and
in~orporated herein~ shall cocstitute special assessments against
t.he respect.i'Ve parcels of 1and arid are a lien on the property for
the amount of the respective assessment.
SRCTIQN 2. ~l written or aral pr~ests or objections to
said report and assessment list are overruled Qr denied.
SiCTroN 1. The unpaid assessments sfu7.n on Exhibit -A
sball be entered upon the 1995-96 tax roll against the parcels of
land and shall be ~llect~ at the Sa.II\e time and in the same manner
as general City taxes... be subject to the same interest and
penalties ... and be subject to the same procedure and sale in case of
delinquency~ All laws and ordinances applicable to the leVi,
col1~tioa~ and enforcement of City taxes are hereby ~ade
