EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The A..'ler School "Outlet" Program was started March of 1995 through the collaborative
efforts of the City of Palo Alto Recreation Open Space and Sciences, Palo Alto Youth
Council (City of Palo Alto Human Services Di,isioo} Y ooth Community Service (YCS). JL

The purpose of the Aller School "Oudet" Program is to engage youth in meaningfuI after
school activities and to help build friendships, confidence and self-esteem in Palo ,'JIO',
teens. The "Outlet" provides middle school students willt a variety of after school aotivities
including homewo& Jabs, open g)ml, arts and crafls. ,;siting senior citi2ens. sorting food for
the hungty and opportunities 10 establisb relationships with high school mentors. High
school mentors serve as positive role models 10 middle scbool .tudents. provide academic
tutoring. plus provide guidance and information about what 10 expect in high school.

The'Outlet' was begun as a pilot program with 00 identified funding for FY 1995-96.

Scbool 'Outlet' Program. Dave MaoKenzie. President and Sunny DyXwe1. Fund-raising
CbalrpCrson will be present at the CiIy Council Meeting of JUT.e 19. 1995 to present the
$20,000 to the City of Palo Alto.
FISCAL IMPACT
This donation of $20.000 will fund the After School 'Outlet' Program for FY 1995-96.
