This report recommends that Council award a tw~year contra<:t in an amount not 10 exceed
S40,OXI per year 10 C3vailino Collision Repair for colli5ion repair ser.-ices 0( City vehicles
and equipment. Funds have been budge!ed in the FY 1995-96 Public Works Depo..rtment
Equipment Management Operations and Maintenance budget for year one 0( the contract.
Funding for !he second year is cO<Itingent on Council approvil cf the 19% 97 budget.

I. Staff recoounends that CoIlncil approve and authorize the M,yOf to execute the
attached tw~yur contract with C3vafiino Collision Repair in !he amQUat 0( $40,000
per year for ooUisioa repair services.
2, Authorize !he City Ma:lager or her designee to negotiate and execute one or roore
change orders 10 the contract with C""anino CclIision Repair. the lOO!l value 0( which
change orders sb.all not exce<d $5,000 per year.

The Equipment Management Division 0( Public Works uses an outside coDlracIol: 10 provide
collision repair se .... ice for City vehicles and equipment. Work includes cost estimating, parts
procurement, autobody restoration, painting, detailing. and transport 0( velllc1es, The
coottaCIor provides • shci> with snfficielll staff to perform quality collision repairs and
painting with • reasonable turnaround time. Bids were sent 10 five coDlracIol:S, three in Palo
Alto and two in MooDlllin VICW; and 000 bid was received from a qualified bidder. Staff
believes the low ~ was due 10 either the COD!l'3<:ICrS (generally small businesses) being
