EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In Deoember 1989, the Polo Alto Child Care Task Force presented the City Council with
its five-year Child C~ MOSler Plan. The Flan was accepted by the Council who thon
directed the Child Care Task Foree to implement the recommendations enunciated in the
report.
Between J989 and 1994, L~e Child Care Task Force worked to establish programs and
deveh::op partnerships aimed at implementing the goaJs in the Master Plan. The task force
maintained a strong and steady presence in the City, advocating the establishment of on
site child""",.t each of the eleven Palo Alto Unified School District elementary schools,
the ongoing provision of City-funded child care subsidies to income eligible residents,
wrung and pennit policies which support the development of child care, and City
kzdership and support for high quallly So!andards for Palo Alto's child care providers.
