On Febnlary B. 1995. Council approved • conlrllcl with Cabletron Systems, Inc. and an
amellC!mem \0 Che con!racl ,.ith ~wis &: Tibbits Inc., to install LAN in designated
Community ~ &cilities. Work on this project is nearing completion. The purpose
oflhe LAN is to connect personal compu1ers and oCher types of worlcstatlons \0 the City',
WAN. This project continues Ihe work begun by the Cit-I i. FY 1992-93 to install Ille
inftasIrucIure necessary to connect remote facilities for computer and data comm~ru""tions.
The Community ~ LANlW AN project will enable City facilities in !be Lucie Stem,
Mik:ben Park and Newell Road site .. to e<>nnect to City Hall and to each o!ber r..ross Ille
Utl1ities Department'. high-speed broadbo nd <<>axial cable system. This will be used to
provide access \0 !be City's Internet connectioo at City Hall, \0 the new class registra60n
and facilities scbeduling software. and for online timekeeping and mission driven budgeting
purposes. Additionally, the WAN will replace and upgrade Ille k:1ephone-based
c:ommunica6on network 1/1& DOW IirJcs the Main. M'rtcheU Park, and Children', Libcaries.

consulting company to maintain its WAN. Based on the kDOwledge this company has of the
