ju.-is<liction over construction on School District property, staff did not have an opponuniry
(0 formally review the site grading. However, based on on inforrnal evaluation 01 the work,
staff does not believe that it will have .significant impacts. In order to m.L!limiz.c ~y
mist)ndernanding, the City Manager Ius sent a letter to the Super:ntendem of Schools asking
the School District to inform the Barron Park neighborhood about the grading work
(Aru.cJunent 1). .
A Public Works Engineer in the Public Works Engineering Division, b", been d<signated
as the City liaison for the Matadero Creek Phase V project and respond, to project-rei >ted
questions fmm the public. Public Works inspeC?.1on staff monitOr!> the (ontnctor\ v.'ork
by visiting the job ,ite on a daily basis. Staff also attends weekly meetings with the
contractor and District personnel to discuss the work sch~duie and an)' construction issues.
In addition, staff attends periodic meetings with representatives from 'lhe Barron Park
Association, the contractor,.and Distli(t personnel to discuss neighborhood concrms.

.a~rangement with I~';A EllgLneering Constn.lctien, loc. to regrade ~ portion of
the Guun High Schnol sile using din spoils from the Santa Clara Valley'Water
Dislrict's \htadero Creek floc,c control project. \\'hile the City does not have
n:·guiarory jmisckl:Jil o\'er cunstnlctlon on School DisLrkt property, J would
like 10 offer some s,uggeslions regarding the work.
Barron Park Tesidents are very concerned about the impacts of tbe Matadero
Creek flood <omroi project on their neighborbood. Members of the public
contributed <:J. greJI deaj of input CO thc Water District during the development
of the proJect. The pbns were reviewed by the City's Architectural Review
Board, Planning Commis:;ion, and Council. As a result, features have been
incorporated into L1.e project which protect the existing natural environment and
minimizE: impacts to the nt:ighbcrhood. One of the neighborhood's key requests
was that they be kepl informed abouc the project status throughout the
construe: tion pedod.
Since regrading the school site was not pan of the original scope of the flood
control project, r suggesl Ihat you notify the neighbors of the proposed work.
The \Vater Dislrict has infonnc:d the Barron Park Association of your intentions,
bur lhe work performed by lNA Engirleering Ccnstnlctkm on the school site is
oULside the scope of their responsibility. The School District will have direct
COJltrol over how, where and when dirt is placed on the school grounds. The
residents should be pleased w heal that the excess din will be used at the schoot
