In order to develop a regional plan for the San Frandsquito Creek watershed., over lOO
federal., state, regional, and looal gl)vemmentrJ agencies; busi.nes)es~ commU:-lit) groups;
anil individuals have been invited to participate ill a Coordinated Re;source Managemc1'11
and Planning (CRMP) process. City ,utThas taken an active roi. in prelim in.,), CRMP
meeting..;;. to es.tabHsh the pIOgram format a~d objectives. The purpose of the CRM,P
process is to promote the enhancement and heahh of the San F lancisquilo C"",k watcrshed,
by stimulating dialogut amongst tile inlerested patties and identifying major problem~,
pla.rming objectives, and future actions. The end producl of this ..::ollaboratil,'e effort \\'in

The CRMP process is being administered by the Peninsula Conservation Cenur and is
overseen by a 3-~-member steering committee with repre.senutives from various agencies and
group .. including the City of Palo Alto. The steering committee has formed individual UJk
groups to develop gaals;md objectives for six specific issues affecting San Francisquito Creek:
natural TeSOUl"Ce protection! flood and erosion control, water pollutir.lIl prevention, land Uk
p!mning. sod..! issues (e.g. bame!essn." ond public aece,,). and public educotion.
R.epr=ucives from the Public Works. Police. Planning & Community EnVironment. and
Co=unity Services D'panments are participating in tne tlsk group meetings.
The CRMP steering committee has requested that participating agencies formally endorse
the CRMP process through a resolution of "'pport. In addition. although the CRMP i;
primarily fun~ with grant monies, tbt Penil1suia Comervatlon Center h.as requested that
participatmg agencies pledge to contribute at least Sl00 annually to p'y for postage,
photocopi.es, and other ml"iCellaIleous operating e1(penscs. Staff recommends that the Ciuty

lead agency for the Coordinated Resource Management and Planning
process, as may be deemed appropriate by the City Manager.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, on behalf of the City of Palo
Alto, i6 authorized to contribute nat more than one ti10usand
ojollars (.$1, 000) during each fiscal year that the City of Palo Alto
is a part.icipant in the process administered by the Peninsula
Conservation Center.
