The following report is a summary of all citizu ... • complaints received and inv<sUglted by
!be Palo Alto PoUce Department during !be third calendar quarter of 1994.
A toIAI of IS complaints were received during this period (July -Sept<!mber 1994). Thirteen
investigations have bee. concluded (three of which are fro", the previous quart<:r).
As a matter of routir.e, staff attempts to identify other associated issues. thal may not have
been included in the initial complaint. Official corrective action (disciplir.e • .cmonishment,
training. policy review) oc<:urred in all situations where a complaint was deemt'd sustained.
A complaint is "sustained" when an investigation discloses sufficient !;videllce to clearJy
prove the allegations made. Absent such evidence, a complaint may be deemed -nol
