EXECUTI}'E SUMMARV
At Ibe March 6, 1995 meeting. the City Council reviewed CMRI64:95 and approved the
expenditure of S9,OOO 10 fund the cost ol analyzing rcco<ded digital audiotapes for three 1994
Shoreline concerts. These tapes will be selected by the City's acoustical consultant. Charles
Salter Associates, based upon several criteria including the type of ronsk played. the weather
conditioos pesen!, and !he duration of audible sound beard by City staff al the noise mooitoring
sta6on.

TO PROVIDE AN AOOITIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR
THE ANALYSES OF RECORDED TAPES FRO)( THE
H~4 SHORELINE 1IMPHITHEATRE CONCERT SEASON
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article
III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto~ the Council on June
20 ... 1994 did adopt. a budget for fiscal year 1394-9.5; and
\F"'KEREAS. noise from t.he Shoreline Amphit.heatre in Mountain
View continues to be a problem in various Palo Alto neighborhood$;
~
WHeREAS, ~be City has audio tapes recorded in P~lo Alto from
the 1994 Shoreline Amphitheatre Concert series; and
WHER.EAS ... t.~ analyses of the tapes 'Ifill enabl!S: tbe C-ity to
ocmpare the noise from the Shoreline Amphitheatre to norKlal
background noise; and
WHEREAS ... t.1le coq>arlson of noise levels on the tapes may lead
to the ~velopment of mitigation ~asures or revision of the City's
current noise ordinance; and
~r the cost for the analyses of the audio tapes is
