EXEOITIYE.}!I!MMARY
On November 18, 1993, Council approved resolutions awarding both the sale of bonds and
the construction contrdct for the Califomia A venue Assessment District Parking Garage>
CIP 19213. This two level, 186 space, fully landscaped, brick masonry structure will be
completed in eally October 1994 and a ribbon cuning ceremony will be scheduled for a
date in the middle of October 1994 at noon.
Reccntly, Terry Schuchat, ch.ainnan of the CAADA Parking Corrunittee, reques.ted staff
to nanl. the new garage after the late Ted Thompson (Attachment B). Ted was !be driving
force behind the purchase of the Keystone lot (site of the new garage) and the initiation of
the process to design and build the new facility.

na.ming some future stnlcture with a historical referen;;:e!.
If Council adopts the attached resolution, staff intends to pl"e a wood sign and bronze
plaque on ~\e parking gal'age " .. ding "Ted Thompson Parking Garage." B.".use the sign
and plaque are a minor change to tile """pe of the project they have been reviewed by the
Planning Departmer~ and recei ved staff approval in lieu a r an Architectural Re view Board
review.

Ted recogonized the need for adequate parking in our business area
early on and worked for many years a.s the chairman of the CAADA
