Request From The Elimbetb F, Gamble Garden Center To Ex~
Its Option To Extend The Lease For An AddJtionai Ten Years
REQUEST.
The Board of Direelors of 111. Elizabell1 F. Gamble Garde.n Center (Gamble Garden) has
asked 10 e<.reise its option 10 extend its existing lease with the City for ten years. The ten
years, together with the thirteen years remaining on its existing lease, will provide a
m""hanism for accepting a wide variely of charitable gifts, bequests and assets, and would

On May 13, 1985, the City Council approved the Garden Cenler concept for !he Gamble
property. On September 10, 1985, 111. Council approved the Option to Lease and !be
Articles of lnoorporation of the Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden Center. The Elizabeth F.
Gamble Garden Cenler Board exercised their option and entered into a 20-ye .... lease with
a IG-year option {or the City-<>wned property 011431 Waverley Street on August 31, 1987.
In the pasl seven years the Gamble Garden Cenler has completely renovated the gardens,

year option and staff recommends approval of its ~uest.
