ClP 119414 provides funding for removal and repl.cement of bacldlow devices, and
removal and replacement of drinking fountain lines connecled to irrigalion .,stoms.
Bids were $Qlicited from nine qualified contractors for bacldlow installations and
modificatiON to existing drinking founlain supply lines at nineteen park sites. Only one
contra.."Ior ~nded wilh • bid of $j7 ,124. thi. bid exceeded the project estimated cosl
by $31,000. DiKUsoion with contractors, who were senl bid package., indicaled thai the
project scope regarding
location plaoemcn($ and exi$tlng underground utilities .... .q"ired additional design
specifications.
Aficr careful analysis, staff is now pl.nning to separale the drinking fountain cross
COMeC1i()D issues from the more s.imple cross connection device replacements, and also to
provide enhAn<:ed de.ign and construction details of existing underground utilities and
proposed new con_tiM details, and then re-bid at separate projects.
