This re~~rt recommends that the Council approve and authorize the
Mayor to execute. the attached one year contract (Attachment A. with
renewal options at the City's election for two additional years at
the same unit bid price) with Lombardo Diamond Core Drilling
Company. Inc, in the amount of $24,666.25 for paverr:ent f:iawcutting
eervices. Fund$; for the fLeet year of the contract are available
in the FY 1994-95 Gas Capital Improvement Program Budget. Contract
funds for sawclltting in option years tt ... o and three will be
appropriated contingent upon Council's approval {.~f the Gii6 Capital
Improvement Program Budget for FY 1995~96 and FY 1996-97.

The sawcutting bids were sent to ~ight qualified bidders. Only
Lombardo Diamond Core Drilling Co .• Inc, x'eeponded with a bid for
the pavem~nt saw-cutting services t·equested. The sawcutting
services are required for in-house gas main and service
construction. Lombardo Diamond Core Drilling Co., Inc. performs
quality sawcutting work at competitive unit prices.
A number of respon~ible firms often are not interested in bidding
some of our projects becau8e~

b. some projects are "on-call" basis
c. traffic control is eh~ected to be the responsibility of
the contractor
d. clean-up of the project is expected to be completed by
the contractor.

INVITATION fOR BIp
The Contractor ahall provide the city of Pal" 1\1 to (City),
Utilities Department, ~.ter Gas Wastewater Division the following
s~rvice8f
The contractor shall provide all labor, equipme~tj and materials
required to saw cut approximately 13, 1~O l.1ne.ar teet of pavement,
throuqh the full pave •• nt thlc~~.&8, at various locations within
the City.
The contractor shall ~~et the following conditions:
1. The Contractor shall providQ thEJ: CIty inSUrilrlce: as required by
the City Risk H.lnager (Re~ attached Fern) •
2. The contractor shall prcvide sa ... cutting services within 24
hours of callout and or written notification.
3. Billing quantlties shall be based on a per callout basis.
4. Use of a rock wheel is unacceptable ylthout prior approval of
the City.
5. Th~ Contractor shall supply, place and maintain all necessary
traffic control devices in accordance with the cityls I(Traffic
Control Manual". Cost tor traffic control shall be included in
the prices bid (or various bid itema.
6. All work areaa shall be We shed dovn at the end of each work
day and at other ti~es 8s.directed by the City. Collect by ~et
