The Board of Directors of Palo Alto centennial 1994, Inc. has
requested that the City Ccuncil appoi.nt Dr. Glori31 S. Hom and Susan
Lehman carmichael to ~il1 two seats on the Palo alto Centennial
1994, Inc. Board.
iCiscussion
Palo Alto centennial 1994~ Inc, is a citizen based nonprofit
corporation which was established to plan the Centennial
celebration. The center~ial Board of Directors is now composed of
25 members, with Vice Mayor Kniss as City council liaison (see
Attachment ~Aft).
The Board of Directors has determined the need to broaden its
membership base and add some ne~ded skills to the Board in order to
improve its effectiveness. To accomplish this r the Board 'Would
like to add two new members. As the City Council is the appointing
authority, the Board is unanimously requesting that two Palo Alto
residents, Dr. Gloria S. Hom and Susan Lehman Carmichael be
appointed to the Centennial Board of Directors. The Board believes
that both individuals will make significant contributions to the
suc~ess of the centenr.ial, and their resumes (Attachment "B") will
clearly demonstrate their qualifications.
