On N~ to, 1994. Council adopted l resolution 1hat established four parking zones in the
downtown area in which reparking would be prolu1Ji!ed on weekdays between 8:00 Lm. and
S:OO p.m. The fue-bonr limil on reparlring in City lots and stru<:ture was deleled accordingly.
Originally. City sIaff iiuf the CbamlJe(s parIdng subcommittee recommended I program k:K;koff
for February 13. However, since lb. November CoWlCll meeling, considerable wodc has beea
done in \he development of a brocbnre on OOwntoWll parking options and the educational
outreach to employers and employees who wad< in the downtown area. Some additional time
is needed for !his outreach, as Ihe finalization of the brochure and the outreach programs "' ...

this project qualified for a Class 1 Categorical Exem~ion under
CEQA guidelines {section 15301-~Existing Facilities> and procedures
adopted by the City of Palo Alto,. and therefore DO further
environmental assessmen·t is necessary.

WE'REAS, Council is authorized p".lrsuant to Palo Al to
MUnicipal Code Section 10.44.010 to a~ parking xestr1ctiODs on
~ity streets and in city-owned parxing lQts ehrough ordinance or
resolut1oo; and~'
WHEREAS, Cou.ncil now desires to update the parking z:one map.
for -t.he Downtown District of Palo Alto to supersedoe. t.~.at map
updated map approved and adopted hy Resolution No. 6106. adopted
April 12. 1982; and.
WHEREAS.. council now desires to ad~ furt-h-er parking
restrictions which prohibit reparJeiDg wit.hin d_esignated 'Zones of
the University Avenue business district (the 'Downtown District')

RESOLVE as follows:
SRCTION 1. The -updated parking zone map for t.he Dow::ritown
District of Palo ~tO, attached hereto ~nd inco~porated ~erein by
· reference, is hereby approved and adopted. The parking zone map
· for, t.he Downtown District apprO\.'"ed and adopted by Resolution No~
"6106 Is hereby superseded.. It shall be a parkiog violation for the
operator of any ~or vehicle or trailer to park in any parking
· space on a .city street or within a city o_--r::.ed or I,eased parking lot
cr st.ruct\Zre for a duration in excess of that provided on the
updated parking Zo..le map apprO\.-ed and adopted in t?1is resolution.

by the city. (b) vehicles or trailers displaying commercial license:
plates while parking in a designated loading space, or ecl vehicles
or trailers .otherwise exempt. from such restrictions by law.
SECTION 3. The restrict-ions on stoppings standing or
parking t.o once in any consecutive five hour period within each

bounded by El Camino'Real~ Everett Street, ~ddlefield Road and
Bomer Avenue .. -which restrictions were adopt.ed by Resolution No.
453S. are hereby rescinded. Those parking restrictions deSignated

is attached hereto and incorporated herein by referen<:e .. are hereby
approved and adopted. It shall be a parking violation for the
