Membel"s of the Council~ This staff report l"ecotnmends Council approval of a Mutual Aid Agl-eement between water agencies in 16 northern California counties: Del Norte, Humholt, ]Jake. Marin. Mendocino, Napa, Solano, Sonoma. Alameda. Contra Costa. San Francisco. San Mateo. Nonterey, San Benito, Santa Cla:t'a, and Santa Cruz covered by the Water Agenc'Y Response Network. Region I I (II -WARN) . The-City of Palo Alto has PX'ovided m1.~tual assistance to neighboring water agencies for about a 'year. The City provided wa.ter and supplies to Purissima Hills Water Company during a pumping station fire emergency on their system in 1990. Additionally. the City of San Jose provided PalQ Alto ~"ith mutual aid in 1985 to combat the fire near Highway 280 and Arastl':'adero Road. The City currently has water distribution system interconnections with Stanford University. Mountain View and East Palo Alto. This water agency mutual aid was achieved on the basis of informal agreements which precipitated many local agency questions. Region 11 {U-WARNl _ Eighty-seven CNR:362:94 L 1 percent (forty-seven water agencies) of the wat~r agencies in these counties currently ~re members of II·W~RN. The City of Palo Alto became a member last year.
