By Resolution Number 72-48 adopted on N0vembe:c 8, 1993. the Co·uncil
declared weeds to be a nUl-sance, -:;J.nd ordered the abat€rroent of that
nuisance as stated in Chapter B.08 of the Pale Alto Municipal Code. rhe
resoh:t.ion provided for the hearing date of December 13, 1933. regarding
objections to the proposed destrtiction or the rerr.oval of these weeds, a!ld
for interested propert.y owners and members of the public to be notified
of the hearing.
Background
The County Fire Marshal's Office administers the contract for aba~ement
of weeds within the City of Palo Alto+ Upon notification of action by
the City council, the Fire Marshal has taken the proper steps to notify
each property Ow:ler by mail of the contemplated .... ·eed abatement action on
respective properties and to post in the Council Chambers a list of the
properties affected. The County Fire Marshal has furnished copies of the
property listing to the City Cle~k and the City Fire Marshal.
At this public hearing r property owners may appear and object to the
proposed ~eed de9truction or z-emoval. After the hearing ann
consideration of the objections, the Council may allow Qr overrule any or
all objections. If c.bjecticns are overruled r the Council is deemed to
have acquired jt:.risdict1on to proceed; and tr.e county will be asked to
perfo~m the wo~k of d~str~ction and removal of weeds.
Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached Resolution ol:dering the
abateMent of weeds~

RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
ORDERING WEED N~iSANCE ABATED
WHERB.AS~ this Council did on November e, 1.993, adopt it.s
Resolution No. 7248 declaring weeds to be a nuisaD~e and s~tting
December 13, 1993, at 7;00 p.m., in the Civic Center as the time
and place for a hearing of. obj ect.ions to the Pl.'oposed destruction
or removal of weeds; and
WHEREAS, in accordclnce with said Resolution, notic'9 of such
hearing was given in the rna~ner provided by law, as appears fram
the affidavits on file in the Office of the City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, ______ interested persons appeared or filed
written objections against said proc~edings or any part thereof,
all persons desiring to be heard were given an opportunity to be
heard~ and all matter~ and things pertaining to said weed abatement
were fully heard and considered by this Counci}.
NOW, THERBFORE 1 the CctUncil of the City of Palo Alto does

ResclutioD No. 7248, adopted a Negative Declaration for this
project. No further environmental assessme~t is required.
