Award 9f Conhract for Fire DepartmenL Office Remodel
Members of the council:
This report recommends that Council award a contract to Mongird
Construction Company in the amount of $26,403 for the remodel of
the Fire Department offices located at the Civic Center. Funds
hav-e been appropriated in the Facilities Management Opere.ting
budget.
Background
The Fire Department offices occupy approximately one-quarter of the
sixth floor of the Civic Center building and accornmodate eleven
people, plus occasior~l light duty personne!. The area currently
is very crowded a,.~d doee not meet the operational needs of the
department. This project provides for Cin interior remodel and
reconfiguration of the space, as well as BO~ minor modifications
to the Transportation Division area.
Environmen~al Impact
This project is exempt from the california Environmental Quality
Act (CEQAJ under Section 1S3Cl of the CEQA Guidelines.
Discussion
Seven bid packages were sent out and bids were received from four
qualified contractors, as shown on the attached summary. Staff
re~ommend6 that the bid of $26;403, submitted by Mongird
Construction Company, be determined by council to be the lowezt
responsible bid and that the contract ~ awarded accordingly. This
bid is seven percent below the engineer's estimate of $28,500 .

staff recommends that council:
1. Approve and auth.:'lrize the Mayor to execute the attached
construction contract with Mongird Construct.ion Company in the
amount of $26,403 for the Fire Department Office Remodel
Project.
