Members of the Council: 6 This report requests that Council approve and authorize the Nayor to execute the attached agreemE>nt and maintenance schl'!dule with Graphic Data Systems Corporation (formerl}' McDonnell Douglas Infrastructure Solutions Division~ and Electronic Data Systems Corporation) for hardware and soft.ware milintenance of the City~ s Geographical Information System/Computer-Aided Design System fn)m July 1, 1994, to June 30, 1995. The cost fo:r this contract will be $76,883.28 and the funding is jointly provided in the FY 1994- 95 operational budget of the Planning, Public Works, and Utilities Depal."tment' B. This is one of three separate contracts rp.quired for the continuing implementation of th~ GIS. BackgxouuQ The current contracts with Graphic Data Systems expire June) 30. 1994 and a new hardware and software maintenance, agreement i8 needed to provide for the repair and periodic servicing of the "GIS hardware (DEC equipment) j for updates to the softwa're (VNS, GDS, PCI and oracle) as they are developed and releasild; and the 800 Help T.line Support. Graphic Data Systems Corp is the ~xclu8ive source for maintenance of the City'S GIS because they are the developer of the City's GIS System and th~y are the only BourCe with the technical ~xpertise to maintain the turnkey Bystem. Therefore, a competitive bidding procedure is not required.
