Divisionis Visual Arts program. Backgrowul The California Arts council has awarde.d grants to the CUltural Center since 1985. For the first three years, these grants were in support of the Master Artists Series. In fiscal years since 1988- 1989 and in the current fiscal year, these funds have been designated for qeneral operating support, with the aim of strengthening the quality and visibility of the exhibition and edUcation program, and thereby increasing the aUdience for the visual arts~ Since the first grant was received in 1985-19S6, program attendance has grown f~om 54,000 to 86,000 last year. The planned enhancement of Visual Arts p.r-oqrams for 1993-1994 'Will continue this trend. The California Arts council Grant provides matching funcis for exhibitions, equitable artists' and lecture fees, outreach and public relations materials, and wcrkshop/studio supplies and materials. ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1993-94 TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION TO THE AJ;.'£S AND CULTURE DIVISION'S VISUAL ARTS PROGRAM AND TO l<ECEIVE HATCHING GRA.'IT FUNDS WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions or Section ~2 of Article III of the Charter of the City ot Palo Alto, the council on JUne 21, 1993 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1993-94; and WHEREAS, the Calitornia Arts Council provides matching qrant funds .for exhibitions, equitable artists' fees, outreach and public relations materials; and WHEREAS, the Palo Alto CUltural Center has been awarded the grant since 1985 to support the Master Artists sexies. and to enhance the quality and visibility of the Visual Arts programs; and lfflEREAS, the necessary fundinq to match the grant is available in the Visual Arts 1993-94 operatinq budget; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does OROArN as tollows: SECTION L The sum of Four Thousand Two Hundred and Twenty Dollars {$4,220J is hereby appropriated to Contract Services ($3 .. 200) alld Supplies and Materials ($.1,020) in the Visual Arts program of the Arts and CUlture Division, and Grant Revenue is correspondinqly increased. SECTION 2. This transaction will have no impact on Reserves. SECTION ). The Council of the city of Palo Alto hereby finds that "'-be enactment of this ordinance is not a project under the California Environmental Quality Act and .. therefore .. no environmen­ tal i~pact assessment is necessary.
