388 UNIVERSITY AVENUE' REVISED FINDINGS
Members of the CO~cil:
At its meeting of Septe~~r 27. 1993, the City Council heard an appeal
by Mark Stevens. Vice President of DevelopTTCent for II Fornaie .. of a
c~ndition of approval for the installation of signage as part of the
building facade modification proposal for II Fornaio at 3as University
Avenue. The City Council voted unanimously to approve the appeal of
the applicant and th~e approving the application for the building
facade modificat.ions, including the proposed sign age . The provision
that the staff return with findings for approval at the next available
City council meeting on the Consent Calendar was incorporated into the
main motion.
FINDINGS FOR APPROVAL
The proposal meets all of the standards for review in Section 16.48.120
of the Palo Alto M' .. micipal Code. In addition, Council specifically
finds that the signage for the site is compatible with the function of
the site because the signage is not excessive in relation to the
University Avenue building facade. The signage design meets the
standards of the Palo Alto Municipal Code's Chapter l6.48
{Architectural Review) by creating a sense of order to the function of
the building and providing a desirable environment for occupants.

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that th~ City council aoopt the finding for approval
of the building facade and signs for the University Avenue frontage of
the II Fornaio development at 3BB University A·.~enue.
