in the amount of $12.000 for an increased level of
the Municipal Service Center. Funds are available in
Enterprise Funds Operating budget,

In January of this year. the City 11anager's Office and the palo
Alto Police Department requested the addition of a second uniformed
6ecurity attendant. to provide roving patrols and increased
visibility at the [lhmicipal Service Center during hours of
operat.ion. This increase was implemented due to an ongoing Police
investigation. and preViOl.lS .i..ncidents that have occurred at the
Center. The Police Department staff have requested the additional
security service to extend at leaElt thl'ough June. All previously
approved contingency funding has been utilized in providing the
increased services from January to date.

In November 1991, Council-approved contract No. S2025661 with The
wackenhut Corporation (CNR 498: 91) to provide security services at
the !ol:unicipal Service Center through June 30. 1994. The requested
contingency increase will allow for additional staffing for the
remaining term of the contract, Funding for this service is
provided for in this fiscal yeal··.9 Utility Departmental operational
budget.
Re.comme.ndation
staff recommends that Council approve an increase in the
contingency funding to contract· No. S2025661 with 'I'he ~iackenhut
Corporation in the amount of $12.000 for-the term of the contract~
for security services at the Municipal Service Center.
