in the amount of $4-8,560 to Tau Ear Equipment Rental and Sales
Company. Inc.z to recycle inert solids located 3t the City of palo
Alto Landfill. Fu...""lds aye available in the 1993 -1994 Refuse
Operating Budget.
Piscussion
Work under this contract includes the removal of stockpiled
concrete, aspr..alt and aggregate base material from the Palo Alto
Landfill for processing into a usable recycled aggregate for rvad
construction. The Inert Solids Recycling Project was outlined as
a program in the City's Source Reduction and Recycling Element
(AS 939) r which was approv-ed by Council in 199J. (CMR:307:91J
Reql.1ests for bids were sent to fiYe contractors. Bids were
received from three qualified contractors as shown on the attached
summary \Attachme~t A). Staff recommends that the bid of $48,560,
submitted by Tou Bar Equipment Rental and Sales Company. Inc., be
determined by Council to be the lo~est responslble bJ..d and that the
contract be awarded accordingly. This bid is 25 percent below the
Engineer's estimate of $64, DOll.

1. Approve and authorize the Mayor to execute the attached
construction contract with Tau Bar E~~ipment Rental and Sales
Company, Inc. in tr"!. amount of $48,560 for the 1993 Inert
Solids Recycling Project.

execute one or more change orders to the contract with Tou Bar
Equipment Rental and Sales Company, !nc., t~e total value of
which change orders shall not exceed $7/000.
