Report in Brief'
The purpose of this report is to request council appr-aval of an
ordinance amending the budget for fiscal year 1993-94 to rE'flect
the award of a $6,038 matching grant from the Arts council of Santa
Clara county, Organizational Enhancement Fund to the Arts and
CUlture DivisionIs Visual Arts Program. Funds have been budgeted
in the 1993-94 Visual Arts Program budget to match this grant.
The Arts council of Santa Clara County a ..... arded a grant to the
Visual Arts Program in fiscal year 1992-93 in support of exhibition
programming at the CUltural Center ~ This current grant is in
support of the CUltur~l center·s exhibition "Radius 1993" a~ the
upcoming e.xhibition for the fall: "Marriage in Form: Kay
sekimachi and Bob Stocksdale.-This grant has been received by the
Visual Arts program through the Arts Council of Santa Clara County
PARTNERS program, made possible in part by the community Foundation
of Santa Clara County. In the current fiscal year, these funds
have been designated for general operating support~ with the aim of
providing an ongoing exhibition opportunity for the area I S emerging
artists, and continuing Elfforts to re3ch a broad mul ti-cul tural
population. The funds ~ill strengthen the quality and visibility
of the exhibition and education program, and thereby increase the
audience for the Visual Arts~
Funding
The Arts Council o! Santa Clara County grant provides matching
funds for exhibitions~ equitable artists' and lecture fees,
outreach and puhlic relations materials and ~orkshop/studio
supplies and materials~ The funds necessary to match the grant
have been budgeted in the Visual Arts Program budget for 1993-94~

ORDINANC:E OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITV OF PALO ALTO
AHENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1993-94
TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION
TO THE ARTS AND CDLTURE DIVISION'S VISUAL ARTS PROGRAM
AND TO RECEIVE HATCHING GRANT FUNDS
I'RC»! THE ARTS COUNCIL OF SANTA CLARA COUNT~
WHER£AS, pursuant to the provisicns o£ Section 12 of Article
III of the Charter or the City of Palo Alto, the council on June
21, 1993 did a~opt a budqet for ~iscal year 1993-94; and
WSEREAS, the Arts Council of santa Clara county provides
JUltcbin9 grant funds for exhibitions,. artist and lecture tees,
outreach and public relatio:lS materials, and workshop/studio
supplies and materials; and
WHEREAS, the Visual Arts program was awarded the Arts Council
grant to support tile Palo Alto CUltural Center's 1993-94 exhlboition
and education programs; and
WHEREAS, the necessary funding to match the grant is
appropriated in the Visual Arts 1993-94 operating budget;
MOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
ORDAIN as follows;
SECTION 1 ~ The BUll of Six Thousand Thirty Eight Dollars
($6,038) is hereby appropriated to: contract services ($5,038), and
General Expenses ($1,000) in the Visual Arts progralll of the Arts
and CUlture DiviSion, and Grant Revenue is correspondingly
increased.
SECTION 2. This transaction will have no impact on reserves~
SECTIQR J~ The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds
that the enactment of this orcUnance is not a project under the
california Environmental Quality Act and .. therefore, no environmen
tal iapact assessment 1s necessary.
SECTION 4.

this ordinance shall become effective upon
