Attached for your information is the Interim Report of the Schools
tor the 21st Century Planning Copmittee4
This report is the product of a committee convened by
superintendent JiB Brown and charqe4 with the responsibility -to
develop a plan to i.prove school facilities so that they support
the ai.sion, goals, and outcomes of the District in preparing its
students to be productive citizens of the 21st ce.ntury~ This
includes aprovements to support new developments in curriculUIII and
instructional technoloqies and strategies to serve changing student
needs. Theile facilities must also serve to lIe.et the chanqinq needs
of our community, most of whose members do not have children in the
8chools~·
The cosait~ee, comprised of parents, teachers$ school staff and
ooaaunity .embers$ began meeting in october 1992 and presented its
interim findings to the Board of Education on June 1, 1993 ~ Those
finding's are docu.ented in this report.
Tbe work of the committee is ccntinuin9~ The current empha.sis is
placed. upon enqaqing all segments of the community in discussion of
the issues raised in the interim report. The schedule calls for
presentation of the fin"-l r-eport to the Board of Education in
FeI>ruary 1994.
