This report recommends that council reject all bids received on
January 18. 1994, for additional satellite stations for the City's
centralized irrigation management systems, and for modification to
park drinking fountains and backflow devices.

Bids were s~licited from six qualified contractors to make
additions to the centralized irrigation management system to
connect satellite controllers at the CUltural Center, Main Library
and Mitchell Park~ Two contractors responded with bids, ~ith a l?w
bid of $61.300. Both of these bids exceed the project manager's
estimate. Statf intends to re-bid this project with the intent to
receive lo~er bids.
Bids were also solicited from six qualified contractors for
"modifications to existing drinking fountains at 18 park facilities~
as part of the irrigation backflow prevention program. Only one
contractor r~sponded with a bid of $45,994. Phone calls to
contractors who vere sent bid packages indicated. that they were
busy bidding other projects, but would submit bids if given another
opportunity. staft intends to solicit bids from additional
contractors for this project~ as well •
