Attached is a brief suamary of the City'" s action this year to
date, rele.tinq to the status of pendinq state and federa.l
lRqislation. These actions are based on existinq legislative
positiDns adopted by the Council.

Congress reconvenes.
Aaong the bills which staff is monitorinq, but for which it has
not yet recommended action, is H.R. 350 (Edwards). Council has
received over 80 letters from the public requesting support of
this federal leqislation, which is an amendment to the Clean
Water Act expandinq the protection of wetlands. Senator
Barbara BoXer Is introducing a companion bi~l, S. 1195, in the
sena.te~ This leqislation b.as the potential for affecting
several prDgTaJIS for which the City is responsible and. statf is
seeli:inq coaplete information on the contents of the bills
