The Municipal Code (Section 2.08.0:0) requires council approval for
the City Manager's appointment of the Assistant city Manager. I am
pleased to present for approval the appointment ~f Bernard M.
strojny as Assistant City Manager. strojny comes to this position
as the outstanding candidate from a strong field of exceptionally
qualified finalists. He brings nineteen years of local government
experience to this organization and has managed a broad ranqe of
activities including finance, budget, community development and
buman resources. He is currently Director of Administrative
services for the city of Irvine. california.
Strojny is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and holds a
Master's d.eqree in Public Administ~ation from the university of
Southern California. Bernie is highly recommended and is
enthusiastic about the p~ospect of working with Palo Alto and its
residents~ He begins his assignment on August 9th.
