Members of the Council:
This report requests that Council award a contract in the ~ount of
$149,500~OO to Robison-Prezioso, Inc., for ~~e interior recoatinq
and exterior repainting of Carta Madera Reservoir. In addition,
staff recommends that C9uncil authorize the City Managet' or her
desiqnee to execute one or more change orders to the contract with
Robison-Prezioso, Inc. f~r additional relate~ but unforeseen work.
The value of these chanqe orders shall not eli:ceed $18,000.00.
FUnds for this project bave been appropriated in F~ 1993-94 capital
Improvement Proqram budget for water reservoir improvements.
Background
In June .199l, Dahl Reservoir was the first of four steel reservoirs
to receive interior recoatinq and exterior repaintin9~ In July
1991 , council awarded a contract to Robison-prezioso to perform the
interior ana exterior repainting of Park Reservoir, but it was
delayed because of weather conditions. The work began on April 26,
1993~ corte Madera. and Montebello Reservoirs are the next two
reservoirs requirinq the same treatment as Dahl Reservoir~ They
will be recoated and repainted in FY 1993-94 and FY 1994-95,
respectively, weather permittinq. This schedule has be~n developed
so continuous wat"'r service can be given to utility customers.

At the Septeml)er 5 ... 1991 ARB lIIeeting, the Utilities Deparbient
presented color samples from which the Board vas asked to select
one Dr more colors for the repainting of the four steel water
reservoirs. The :!Ioard selected two colors, Padmount Green for
Dahl. , Park, and corte Madera Reservoirs and cypress tor the
~ontebello Reservoir.
Bid EyaluAtigD
Bids were sent out to 20 contractors. On April 20, 1993, Staff
::eceived four bids as ind.icated on the attached :bid sUilUZIary. Uging
Bid Item 1A, the bids ranged ~rom a low of $149,600.00 to a high of
$366,000.00. The enqineer's estimate is $170,000).00. Staff
selected Robison-Prazioso, Inc. based upon the contractor1s
qualifications, experience, recently completea projects history ana
