The Board of Directors of Palo Alto centennial 1994. Inc~ has
request~d tt~t Council approve the addition of eight additional
seats on the board, and that Council appoint the individuals named
~low who were selected to fill five of these positions.

Palo Alto Centennial 1994, Inc. is a citi~en-based nonprcfit
corporation which was established to plan the centennial
celebration. The Centennial Board of Directors is now composed of
27 members, with Mayor Kniss as City Council liaison (see
Attachment "A-l.
The Board of Directors has determined the need to broaden its
membership base and improve its effectiveness by including the 20
to 35 year-old group. To accomplish this l the Board ""ould lik.e to
add five new members. On JanUarI 27, 1994, the Board approved the
amen~ent of the corporation's bylaws, to allow no more than 35
seats on the Board. As the city Council is the appoinl:.inq
authority, the Board is unanimously requesting that the follo~in9
indiYiauals be appointed to the Board of Directors: ~~bie Ford
scriba, Linda J. Ridder, Liza H. Kniss r Susan E. Frank and Carina
Rotsztain. All either live or work in Palo Alto. The Board
believes that all five individuals will mak.e significant
contributions to the Centennial, and their resumes (Attachment -s-)
will clearly demonstrate tileir qualifications.
