This report requests that Council a'Ward a contract in the a1:l.ount
of $32,896 to Emil J. W~ber Co. of San Francisco for relocation
of Lift station Controls, foothills Park~ In addition, staff
recommends that Council authorize the City Hanaqer or her
designee to execute one or more change orders to the contract
with Emil J. Weoer Co~ for additional related, :but unforeseen
york. The value of these change orders shall not exceed $3,948.
FUnds for this project are available in the E~ 92/93 Capital
Improvement progra~ budget for Waste~ater Collection Syste~
Rehabilitation/Augmentation.
Background
The eXisting Foothills Park wastewater lift station is a below
ground facility housing two wastewater p~~ps along vith the pump
controls and o~~eT minor appurtenances. The station is
considered a "confined space" requiring safety equipment and at
least two peLsons for entry. To allow for better accessibility
to the pump controls and the City electric meter, this project
will relocate these items above ground in a small cabin~t on a
concrete pad~ The cabinet yill be painted green to match the
surrounding area and will be screened by ~xisti~9 trees~ The
existing ~astewater pump~ will remain in place.
Environmental Assessment
As part of the Council approval of the 1992-1997 CIP, this
project received a negative declaration and no further
environmen~al review is necessary.

The p~oject ~as sent out for competitive bids. Bid~ were
received troD one bidder, Eeil 3. Weber Electric Co., on June Si
199J in the amount of $32,896. The Engineer's estimate ~as
$31,000. Staff finds the bidd~r to be qualifi~d to perform the

1. Authori~e the Mayor to execute a contract with Emil J. Weber
Electric Co. in the amount of $ 32,896 for relocation of
lift station controls, Foothills Park; and
