Discussictn
At tbe Ka.y 24, 19t3 City COtincil Meetinq, council approved a
contribution of $Ui/50S to the unfunded balance of" the proposed
Summer Drop-In Playgroun4 program to be oftere~ in the City of East
Palo Alto (CMR 319~93). Council a.sked that staft return with ill
Budget Amendment ordinance (BAO) for council approval on a
subsequent consent calendar.
Staff recommends that Council approve the attacbed. Budget Amenc1moent
Or4inanee in the amount o£ $16,505 for tbe proposed East palo Alto

IN THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO
WHEREAS, pursuant to the prov i siorlS of Section 12 of Article
III of the Charter of tbe city of Palo Alto, the Council on June
22, 1992 did adopt a bUdget for fiscal year 1992-93; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto has been asked to contribute to
a summer recrea.tion pr~gra-m for children between -.:.he ages of six
and t.hirteen in the City of East Palo Jllt-c's Bell str-cet Park; and
WHEREAS~ there is inadequate time to secure grant Tundlng for
the program and it has been five years since a recreation. program
has been offered for this age group; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Al-r.o, in concert -.. 'ith the City of
Menlo park, the County of San Mateo, ai"ld various community groups
has 'Worked to assist the City of East Palo Alto to impr~ve its
services and programs; and
WHEREAS, the Cit'i Council has determined that, to thoe extent
the general health, safety, and welfare of ~he City of Palo Alto
residents will t-e promoted, a public purpose will be served by the
City's donation of funds to the City of East Palo Alto;
NOW t THEREfORE, the Council of the City of Palo JI.lto doe::;
ORDAIN as follows:

Dollars ($16,505) is hereby app~opriated to General Expense in the
!Iuman Services Di .... ision of the community Services Departmen~.
These funds arl2 authorized to be disbursed to the Peninsula
COlnmunity foundation, which will manage program funds. This
transaction .... ill reduce the Budget Stabilization Reserve by a
corresponding a~ount.
