Members of the Council:
The purpose of t~is report is to request that the cOUDcil approve
the 1992-93 Kunicipal Fee Sche~ulet as amended, with respect to
certain swim peol fees and to include "everal facility fees and
char9'es~ stetf is requestin9 tbe cbanges to the Municipal Fee
Sob.aule at tbis time .. ratber than with tlJe Interim Bu6qet, in
order to bave the new ~ees in place ~or the 1993 swim ~ea,on~

Staff surveyed swim pool related fees in fiscal year 1991-1992 and
determined. that. it wa.s app.t'opt:ia.te to request the council I s
approval of certain ~ee increases in the aquatics program.. Tbe
reviev was not completed in time to ~ring it be~ore the Council
durir.q the budqet appr(lval process la.st June for the 19~2-1Sl9 3
fiscal year. The survey was updated this fiscal year. (See
"ttac::hment B) The proposed cbanqes in the Fee Schedule appear
appropriate at t;bis time~ (See Attaci-.:nent C)
It is prop-osed that the Children's category tor recreational
swimming be aboliShed, and that everyone under the age o£ 18 years
pay tbe single fee ot $1.25 per pool visit. The elimination of the
category simplifies the fee structure an~ reduces accounting costs.
~s a result l children yill pay 25 cents more: and teen fees will
remain the same, so tbat teen swim participation is encouraged.
Fees tor seniors will increase by 25 cents to $1.25, while adult
visies will cos~ $2.00, an increase of 50 cents. Non-resident tees
and fees for ticket books are reoommen~ed for a. corresponding
increase.

WHEREAS, pu~suant to the provisions of Section 12 cf Article
III of the Charter of the city of P~lo Alto, the Council on J~ne
22~ 1992 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1992-93; and
WHEP.EAS r the RE:creat.io.'"l Division c,f the City of Palo Alto's
community Services Department is proposing fee changes to the FY
1992-93 Municipal Fee Schedule, and proposing inclusion of fees
omitted from the FY 1992-93 Muricipal Fee Schedule;
NOW, THEREFORE, the council of the City of Palo Alto does
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Cornmunit}· services DepartPlent Fees in the
Municipal Fee Schedule will be changed as sho ..... n in Exhibit A.
SECTION 2_, Fee categor.i.es to be added t".) the current FY 1992-
93 Municipal Fee Schedule and listed on pages 1-4 of Exhibit B
shall be included in the FY 1992-93 Municipal Fee Schedule.
