SincE! 1988, the FE.cycling Program has r~cogni led businesses in Palo
Alto for i"rnr1eEeJ1ting' recycling and ... ·oste reduction pr:>grarrls.
Staff originalli' picked a select few businesses each i~ear ""rhich
demonstrated effcrt~ in recycling an:3 recognized them at different
events. In 1991~ staff developed a rl.Ore formal process ",,'.h:if::h
allowl.'ed businesses to nomina'te themselves or residents to nO:r:lir.ate
a business they felt ',.'as doing a gced job in "ecycling. Staff
added the C"ategory of best \,'aste red:.l.cticf'. tnogram and 'test.
