This is an informational report to advise the City Council that the
Regional Water Quality Contr'C'l Pla:-lt and specific employees have
received awards for 1993 from the California Water Pollution
Control Association-Santa Clara Valley Section. They are: Plant
of the Year, Safety Program of the Year, Laboratory Analyst of the
Year CL~d Treatment Plant Operator of the Year.
SwCifics
The Santa Clara Valley Section (SCVS) of the California Water
Pollution Control Associat.ion (CWPCA) has selected the Palo Alto
Water Quality Control Plant as the Treatmenc Plant of the Year for
the 2.993 section award. TIle award is for 'I accomplishments in
complia.."1ce, innovative practices, cost effectiveness, and other
evid~nce of superior plant operation.-
The 1993 section award for Safety Program of the Year was awarded
to the Palo Alto Water Quality Control Plant ~whose safety programs
have heen evaluated as the most effective by the Section Safety
Committee, mad~ up of representatives of all local Publicly-OWned
Treatment Works (POTW's).-
The 1993 section award for Laboratory ~,aly6t of the Year
I!recogniZe6 involvement wit.h projects that have advan.ced the
science of laboratory technology, and activity in secticn
functions,-was awarded to Changam Naidu, a chemist at the Palo
Alto Water Quality Control plant.
The 1993 section award for Treatment Plant Operator of the Year
-re'C'ognizea outstanding performance in the field ot operatior.s, and
act~vity in the local and state asscciations,N was awarded to Ken
!'..remesec~ a Senior Operator at the Palo Alto Water Quality Control
Plant.
