(Centennial) Board of Directors reques~ that the City council appoint two new members to the Centennial Board of Directors a Discussion The Centennial is a nonprofit public benefit corporation established by the City Council to plan the Centennial celebration. The Corpor~tion is not an agency of the City~ it is a separate and private nonprofit entity. The City Council is, however, the appointing authority for members of the Centennial Board of Directors. The Centennial Bylaws call for a minimum of seven and a maximum of fifteen Board Members. Pro:!"d ously the. City council has appointed a total of thirteen Board Members. Tnere are currently two vacancies on the Board of Directors. The Centennial Board of Directors has been seeking an interested person .ho 'Would like to serve on the Board of Directors as a representative of the Palo Alto Chamber D! CO!!l1T1erce, in order to strengthen the Cent.annial ties 't.o the business community. Mr. Bill Reller, a local realtor and former President of the Palo Alto C~ambe~ of Commerce (biography attached as Exhibit B), has come forward and indicated a .... illingness tc, serve on the Centennial Board of Directors. ?he Board of Directors tooK formal action at its regular August 199~ meeting, to request that the City Council appoint Mr. Reller to the Board of Directors. The Centennial Board of Directors has also been seeking an interested perso~ who would liks to serve on the Board of Directors who has knowledge and skills in the field .;;;f account.ing. The Board of Directors has taken formal action at its regular October 1992 meeting to request that the City Coun~il appoint Ms. Miller to the Board of Directors.
