In June, 1990, the City Council approved a twelve-month sabbatical for Chief
Plsnning Official Carol Jansen. The sabbatical was to facilitate attendance
at Harvard Un;yersity's mid-career Mast~rs in Public Administration program.
Ms. Jansen received her MPA in June 1991, and returned to the City in July
1991. Since her retu:-n to the City, Ks. Jansen has worked out of the CHy
Maniger~s Office, prlmarily on economi<: resource p1anning issues. During and
after the sabbatical, .anagement of the Plannin~ Diy;sion nas been a combined
responsibility of Zoning Administrator Nancy lytle, Assi~tant Plannin9
Official &eorge Zi~~rman and Manager of Development Monitoring and Plan~ing
Projects Ji. Gillil.nd.
~s. Jansen continue to report to the City Manager while working on economic
res~urces issues. ~s. lytle has been appcinted Chl€f Planning Official/Zoning
Administrator. Ms. lytle's promotion was planned for in the 1992·93 budget
and no addjt70nal fu~ding is netessarj to accommod~te her prorr~tion.
