This is an informational report and no council action is requi~ed.
Palo Alto Municipal Code Section 2.:3 0.060 subsection (a} c!.uthor izes
the city Manager to award contracts for su..oplies in excess of
$25,000. The section requires that a report of those awards be
made quarterly to the Cou:lcil. Included in this report is a
listing of all materials con-tracts, purchase orders, and blanket
orders over $25,000 awarded from July through september 1992.
Blanket orders are purchase orders for materials where a ~not to
exceed" dollar Itmit is established .. "i th various ver.dors based on
estimates. The city establishes blanket orders as a vehicle for
purchases made on a frequent basis. They are used by single,
multiple and all-city departments. The explanation of the blanket
order is shown in the description area of the attached schedule.
All blan~at orders have been listed with a July 1, 1991 award date
since they are in place at that time for department use. The
actual total dollar amounts are determined by the depart~ents' use
by the end of the fiscal year and mayor may not equal the blar~et
order limit.
