for Sav cutting Services FY 92-93.

This report requests the council approve a contract renewal with
Lombardo Diamond Core Drilling for saw cutting service Contract NOf
S2024730 in FY 92-93 for a total of $46,925.00. Staff will return
to Council next year for an extension of the contract in the amount
of $43,050.00 when the FY 93-94 budget is approved~ FUnds for this
contract are available in the FY 92-93 Gas and Water Capital
Improvement Program Budgets.
Background
sta£f requested quotes in 1991 from six suppliers for pavement saw
cutting services on gas and water mains replaced and repaired by
City operations crews. Quotes were requested for FY 1991-92, FY
1992-93 and FY 1993-94. Contrac"t extensions would be !:iade based on
approved funding fer each fiscal year and the contractor's
performance <1<lrinq the previous fiscal year~
A contract with Lombardo Diamond Core Drill ing was awarded on
August 20, 1991 in FY 91-92, 'With the option to renew for the
second and third years. The contract was not submitted at that time
to tha City Council for approval/ since the contract amount was
$25,000.00 or less and _ithin the City Manager's approved
authority. O\:.ring FY 91-92, the .:ontractor proved to be very
professional in his work and staff is satisfied with the services
provided.

Staff compared this quotation .ith prices paid for the same work in
previous years and found the quotes given to be economical. The
increases in the amount of the contract in thE second and third
year a~e due to increased amounts of ~ork being performed.

Staff recommends that Council:
1. Approve and authorize the Mayor to execute the attached
C<:Intract with Lombardo Diamond Core Drilling in the
amount of $46,925.00 for FV 92-93;
2. Authorize the City Manager or his designee to negotiate and
execute one or m.ore change orders to the contra.ct with
Lombardo Diamond Core Drill ing the value of which change
orders shall not exceed $4 /625.00 for FV 92-93.
