By Resolution Number 7036 adopted on November 4, 1991, the Council declared
weeds to be a nuisance. and ordered the abatement of that nuisance as
stated in Chapter 8.08 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code. The resolution
provided for the hearing date ot December 2, 1991, reqardinq objections to
the proposed destructi~n or the removal of these weedS, and for interasted
property owners and members of the public to be notified of the hearing.

The County Fire Marshal's Office administers the contract for abat~~ent of
weeds within the City of Palo Alto. Upon notification of action by the
City Co~cil, ~he Fire Marshal has taken the proper steps to notify each
property owner by mail of the contemplated weed abatement action on
respective prope~ties and to post in the Council Chambers a list of the
properties affected. The Co~nty Fire Marshal has furnished copies of the
property listing to the City Clerk and the City Fire Marshal.
At this public hearing, proPerty owners may appear and object to the
proposed weed destruction or removal. After the hearing and consideration
of the objections, the COUncil may allow or overrule any or all objections.
If objections are overruled, the cour.cil is deemed to have acquired
jurisdiction to proceed; and the County will be asked to perform the ~ork
of destruction and removal of weeds.

RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
ORDE:RIlJG WEED N""0ISA1'\lCE AEATED
WHEREAS, this Council did on November 4, 1991, adopt its
Resolution No. 7036 declaring ~eeds to be a nuisance and setting
December 2, 1991, at 7:30 p.m., in the Civic Center as the time and
place for a hearing of objections to the proposed destr~ction or
removal of weeds; and
WHEREAS, in accordance ..... ith said Resolution , notice of such
hearing was given in the manner provided by law/ ~s a~pears from
the affidavits on file in the Office of the City Clerk; and
WHERF.AS , ___ interested persons appeared or filed
written objectior.s against said proceedings or any part thereof,
all persons desiring to be heard ..... ere given an opportunity to he
heard, and all matters and things pertaining to said ~eed abatement
~ere fully heard and considered by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City o! Palo Alto does
hereby RESOLVE as follows:
SECTIOJ:L.....l. Any and all objections to the proposec

is, overruled.
SECTION _~. The Fire Chief hereby is ordered to abate such
nuisance, or cause the same to be abated b:Ji Ir.eans of Contract No.
382:0 for that purpose OL'ith the COl1nty of Santa Clara, and as
provided in Chap~er B.08 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, and to do
