During the Finance committee meeting held on Hay 28, 1992, staff was directed to survey surrounding co~unities for comparison of their refuse collection rates to the Palo Altc refuse rates, effective July 1, 1992 and to also provide the committee with staff's plan for notifying residents of the rate increases4 Background The volume-based ra~e structure (CHR:268:92) for residential collection effective July J., 1992 charges the same rate per can, regardless of the number of cansl as opposed to the previous pricinq structure ";i[hich charged less per can as the m.L1nber of cans increased. The new rate structure was developed in response to Council's direction during last year's budget hearings to chan~e the refuse rate structure.
