Ama:"ldment No. 1 to Contract No. C2021861 with Cent~al Maintenan~e Co. in the amount of $6D,OOO for interior custodial services~ This amendment is being requested due to the reduction of two positions in F¥s 1992-93 and 1993-514. Contract services will be used to pro,,"ide necessary janitorial functions previously done by ir.-house staff. Budqeted salaries and ber.e.fi ts-have been reduced and contract services increased in fiscal years 1992-93 and 1993-94 to reflect the reduction of ene building service per-son position per year~ pacJcground Based on the departmental review conducted by the Finance Depart".ent. this year, the Public Works Depart.ment has commit.ted to the elimination of two building service person positions during FYs 1.992-94 (one in each fiscal year), transferring t.he CUstodial services currently being perfor.med by those positions to contract services. The ultimate goal is to complete the transition froc in house custodial to contract services through attrition~ In June 1991, Council approved co~tract No~ C2021861 ~ith Central Maintenance Co~ (CKR:283:91l to prcvic~ interior custodial services for various City facilities, through :une of 1994. The requested increase of up tc $60,000 per year for FYs 1992-9) and 1993-1994 will fund additional contract services to compensate for the reduction through attrition of the two City Building service person positions~ One building service person employee recently tr3nsferred to an open position in the Parks DiviSion, enabling the eLi.mination of one building service position in the FY 1992-93 budget. Contract change order authority for FY 1991-92 and expenditure savings in the Division's current budget are sufficient to provide for this position reduction ahead of schedule~ The second position will be vacated no later than upon the commencement of FY 93-94. We do not anticipate any other-retirements or resignations at this time, but shou) 3 any additional positions be -1- 4 - vacated tit..rough at.trition, 'We 'Will return to CO":.lncil tor additional amendments to the contract. Re.cgmmendatiop Staff racommends that council a~prove ~nd authorize the Mayor to execute Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. C2021861 'With Central Kaintenance Co., in the al:lour;t of $60,000 per rear tor eac" of the fiacel years 1992-93 and 1993-54 for interior custodial services. This represents an increase f~om $~20.561.92 per year to an a~cunt not to exceed $180,561.82 per year for each of the tvo remaining fiscal years (1992-9) and 1993-94). ~ctfUII~;rUbmitted' c. r.
