J - June 11,. 1992 THE HONOPABLE CITY COT)NCIL P~lo Alto, California ---------------------- -- 5 Concrete Replacement Project -Award of Contract Members of the Council: Report in Brief This report recommends that council a~ard a contract (Attachment Cj in the amount of $303,223.72 to Dolan Concrete Construct:ion for concrete replacement wbich includes curb and gutter replacement, sidewalk replacement, and wheelchair ramp construction~ Funds have been appropriated in CIP 47702 (Storm Drainage Enterprise Fund) and CIP 18903 (Sidewalk Raplacement). Discussion work under-this contract includes curb ~nd gutter-replacement in various areas to corr-ect drainage problemsj sidewalk replacemen~ in the area bounded by Middlefield Road, Guinea Street, Palo Alto Avenue, and University Avenue (Attachment A); and wheelchair ramp construction at the intersections Qf Waverley street and Channing Avenue, Middlefield and Embarc~dero Roads, and waverley Street and Embarcadero Road~ Bids were received from three qualified contractors as shown on the attached summary (Attachment B) ~ Staff recommends that the bid of $303 I 223.72 submitted by Dolan Concrete Construction, be determineL") by Council to be the lowest responsible bid and that the contract be awarded accordingly. This bid is 10 percent beloiol the engineer's estimate of $337/065~70. Environmenta' Assessment This project is categorically exempt as defined by the California Environmental Quality Act.
