Backgrouns! Over the past few months~ staff h3S been studying and discussing fire station location and consolidat.ion feasi~ility at two sites 'With the cities of Los Altos and Mountain Vie~. The proposed agreement is an out growth of those discussions ~ith Los Altos Fire Department and the Los .Altos county Fixe P!:otecticn District:. Palo Alto and the Los Altos County Fire Protecticn District have contiguous boundaries and similar fire protection needs~ The City of Los Altos contr-acts to provide fire protection for the Los Altos county Fire Protection District, and currently opere-.tes 'With Palo Alto under auto!natic and mutual aid agreements. Normally, tl'l,e fire season begins on or about June 1 and continues through october 1 of any given year; the fire season may begin earlier and continue t~rough November of any qiven year. The parties propose that this station be jointly staffed for the 1992 season; and WHEREAS, Palo Alto~ Los. Each employee agsigned under this agreement shall continue to be subject to the p€rsonnel rules and regulations of his/her re&pective employer, and with any labor contract to which he/she is a party~ 5. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Distrlct a~ree to prepare and utilize an OPEP~AL J.~.1~rE.R OF UNDERSI~NpING t~o define actual practices and procedures of this agreement.
