Design documents for the Police wing st.ructu.r~l ... ork are being revised per Inspection Services Division review, and the project will be rebid in late summer. Additional funding will be available in FY 1991-92. In June 1991, the vendo= provided an updated version of IrAS VI, ostensibly to include programming modifications identified by City staff since JaTl.uary~ During installation and testing r ho"Wever, numerous unrequested char-ges and other problems became apparent, resulting in substantial delays to th~ next phase of the project: refinement and further modifications of !FAS VI. Mean~hile. a contract for prog~a~~ing and consulting services was extended to assist staff in testing, using and improving InS VI. EXPECTED COMPLETION: NOT SET. 18910 PARKS SITE ACCESS .fOR THE orSABLER This three-phase project provides access for the disabled to City parks and open space. Phase II consisted of additional on-sit~ paved paths and modifications to drinking faucets and picnic tables at various parKs. Approximately one-third of the urban area of Palo Alto has been photographically mapped. ~his area is ~eing converted into digital form for transfer into the new geographic information system (GIS} soft~are. Staff determined that modifications in signing and striping ~ere in order, and Council approved these changes in March 1991. These modifications .. ill be funded from this proj ect. The permanent striping changes wi 11 !'lot be made until current temporary striping fades sufficiently. FY ~O-91 ~ork provided for the expansion of the A.nimal Services office to create a multi purpose work area to accommodate the office of a volunteer coordinator as well as a meeting roam for staff and volunteers. The filtration system has been completed. The ne'j{ chlorination sj"stem has been designed ~nd the project bid. The system will be installed in FY 91- n. EXPECTED CGMPL[TION: FOURTH QUARTER 1991-92. 19005 _TENNIS AND BAS.K£T13AI,.L COURT IM:PROVE1't.EN'!'~ This project funds preventive maintenance for city te~~is and basketball courts on a five-to seven-year rotating schedule. F¥ 90-91 work has heen completed, and included placing new aspbalt concrete overlay on the Peers, Boulware and Briones basketball courts, resurfacing of the Terman t€nnis courts, and restriping courts at Seale. Ramos, ~obles, Hoover, John$on, and Scott ParJc~. Future improvements have been delayed indefinitely due to budget constraints. EXP~CTLD COMPLE7ION: NOT SET. 19006 ATHLETIC FIELD$.. __ RENOVATION This project provides for on-going renovation of athletic fields to ensure safe and playable conditions. Soccer fields at El Camino Park, Greer Park and Terman Park were renovated first quarter F"i 19SJl-92. Future renovation has been delayed indetinitely due to budget constraints. EXPECTED COMFLETION: NOT SET. 19009 FlN~CE VAULT REMODEL Remodel of the Finance Department vault will improve the ~ork space area for Finance Department staff. MANAGEMENT This project will fund a centralized records )J'~anagement system "for the collection, controlling, indexing, protection, storage, securitYJ and destruction of City documents and records. First-year funding covered a study of various options and systems available, with recommendations for futUre implementation. A ~Request for proposals· for implementation of the system vill be issued during FY 91-92, and a pilot i~plementation done in the Police Depart~ent and the Inspection services Division of the Planning Department. The .... ork ""ill reduce congestion and ease traffic flo .. along major routes to the Stanford Research Park. Preliminary design has been co:rupleted on seven intersections. Final design is substantially completed for the re~aining t~o, including the Alma/East Meadov and Alma/Charleston intersections. The project al:;.o invol'tes tt'.e removal of contaminated soils adjacent to the existing landfill fuel tenk. An abandoned tank has been found in an alley near Alma Street~ Staff is currently ~orking with the santa Clara Valley Water District to determine the respcnsible parties. A five-year NPDES permit vas issued to the program by the Regional Water Quality Control Beard in Julr ~99D.
