Architects to provide additional architectural and structural design services and construction supervision for t.he remodelinq of fire stations 2 and 4 dormitory facilities. FUnds have been appropriated in elP 18916 and 18508. Sack ground Tnis project modifies locker, bath and do~ito~y facilities in five fire stations to provide privacy for male and female firefiq~ters under CIP 18916. The ~ork was divided into two phases. The first phase included stations 1, 3 and 5 and has been completed~ The desiqn cost for Phase One was $21,500. Phase Two includes stations 2 and 4~ Nece$sary structural repairs at station 2~ funded under C~P 18508, have been combined with this project to avoid duplicate work:. The design cost for Phase Two is $23,340, for a total combined agreement cost of $~4,840 for design work for all five fire statior-s. NockjWallace Architects was selected in accordance with the City's selection procedure for professional consultants to provide design work for the five stations. The consultant will design bath, locker and dormitory facilities vithin the existing structures to accommodate both male and female firefighers, a!ld 'Will provide design :for structural improvements at Station 2 ~ This work W'ill include comple.t.e drawings and spe.cifica­ tions necessary for bid advertisement and field supervision during the construction phase. ARCHITECTURAL 2 'L - o The r..;-.:::'i5;.;.l~ant shall provide complete design services for the relUodel of dormitory, locker, and restrool:l facilities at Fire Stations 2 and 4~ This portion of the proj~ct shall provid~ separate facilities for male and female firefighters within the existing b·.lilding envelope. Each station shall be designed as a separate package '",i th its mom dra'wro'ings and specifications. The Consultant's services shall include the following itams in addition to any related ~ork necessary to provic!e complete, final construct.i.or. drawings, and specifica­ tions required for the proposed remodeling ~ork. 1) The Consultant shall visit, and become thoroughly familiar with the project sites, utilities, adjacencies, etc. I which will bear upon the design work. 2) The Consultant shall attend design conferences as neces­ sary to develop design criteria with the Fire Department and Public works 06partment~ 3) The Consultant shall provide three (3) sets 0f prelimi­ nary design dravings for each station to the Proj ect Manager for r-eview and approval which -.;i11 indicate the configuration and general treatment of the proposed changes to each facility. The Consul- tant shall hold bi-weekly constr~ction meetings with the Project Manager and the Contractor's supervisor. - 11) The Consultant shall revie''''' all shop dra"wings in a timely manner. B. STRUCTURAL SERVICES FOR FIRE STATION 2 The addition on the ea.o:;t side of Fire station 2 is experienc- inq cracking due to settle!:lent. T'tte design work for the structural repair of Fi~e station 2 shall therefore be included 'With the architectural design. The dra .... 'ings and specifications shall include arc-hi tectural and structLlral design in one packag€ for Station 2. All structural design .. ork for this proj-ect shall be performed by a California Licensed str~ctural Engineer. The St.ructural Engineer shall provide complete design se.rvices for the corrective structural :modifications at Fire statior. "2 to prevent further settleme~t and repair the damage to the structure~ The s~r~~tural Engineer's s~rvices shall include the following items in additio~ to any related work necessary to. provide compl eta, final construction dra~ings. and specifications required for the proposed corr~ctive structural modifications: 1) The Structural Engineer shall perform all work listed in items 1 t.hrough 51, and item 11 of thE: Architectural Scope of Wor-k on Fire stations 2 and 4 ~ as tt,e :items rE'!late to the corr-ective structural modificatiot"'. work for Fire station 2 ~ 5 - o 2) 'l'he Structural Engineer shall provide cvr.struction support services during the construction phase of the project for Fire Station 2 and shall attend the bi--weekly ~eetings on an as needed basis. Ti~e for five {S) site visits by the Struc~ur~l Engineer shall be included under this Scope of Work. Additional visits 'w'ill be authorized with the City's prior consent and shall constitute additional services unde~ this Agreemant. 3) The StructUral Engineer shall provide all structural calculations to the city for Fire Station 2. The City has prepared a soils report for Fire Station 2 which is available for this prcj eet. Additional geotechnical services ~e~~ired by the Consultant on the project will be obtained by the City under a separate contract, at the City's sele discretion. C. TIME OF COMPLETION wi th the exception of the construct ion support serv ices required herein, all design ~ork under this Scope of Wo~k foe Fire stations ~ and 4 shall be completed vithin sixty (60) calendar days of notice to proceed with Fire Stations 2 and 4. However, preliminary drawings for both stations shall be submitted to the City for review and approval .ithin thirty (30) calendar days after notice LO proceed has been given by the City. 6 -. o ~. INFORMATION TO BE PROVIDED BY THE CITY The City shall provide the Consultant with available design and constr~ction records of the existing buildings 3nd information relative to location of utilities as available.
