Maintenance Contract
Kembers of the Council:
This report requests th~t Council approve and authorize the Mayor
to execute the attached Maintenance Sched'J.le with the firm of
Electronic Data Systems Corporation (formerly McDonnell Douglas
Infrastructure Solutions Division), for the performance of
required hardware and software maintenance for the City's
Geographical Information System/Computer-Aided. Design System from
July 1, 1992, to June 30, 1993~ The cost for this agreement will
be $59,326.41t and the fU!'IQinq is jointly provided in the FY
1992-93 operations budget by the Public works Department and the
Utilities Department.

In June of 1987, 1988 and 1999~ Council funded the GISjC1;.D System
as part of the FY 1987-88, FY 198B-Sg, and FY 1989-90 Capital
Improvement Programs. This is a joint project be:t .... 'een the Public
Works, Utilities, and Inform~tion R~sources Departments.
contractor services were necessary to assist staff in designing
and procurinq the necessary system hardware and software to
support the completion of this phase of the GIS/CAD system. The
system hardware ana soft~are will allow th~ conversion from the
present manual mapping system, (CityTs block maps and Utilities
distribution system maps) into a tully computerized system.

This hardware and software maintenance agreement provides for the

repair and periodic servicing of the GIS hardw"are (DEC
equip.i.Clent); for updates to the software {\'MS, CDS, oracle, and
CTSTRUOL) as they are devel~yed and released; and 800 Help Line
Support. The cu~rent hardware/software maintenance contract ~ill
expire at the end of this fiscal year. A,t,iprcval of the att~ched
Maintenance Schdule ~ill renew maintenance service by amending
the original contract to coincide: ",,'ith F'i 1992-93. Staff has
specified EDS Corporation (Electronic Data Systems Corporation)
to provide mai~tenance service, since they are the developer of
the Citr's GIS System and are th~ only source 'With the tech;!'";ical
e~1Perti5e to maintain ~,is turnkey system.

Staff recommends that Council approve and authorize the Mayor to
execute the attached Maintenance Schedule 'With the firm of EDS in
the ~ount of $59,326.41 to contract for hardware and software
maintenance of the GIS/CAD system.
