This is ~n 1nformational report and no Council action is required~
On Hay 7, 1992, Special Weapons and Tacti~s Teams (SWAT) and Crisis
Resolution Teams (CRT} from Palo Alto, Mountain View, Los Altos,
and santa Clara county Sheriff's Office will conduct a training
exercise. Approximatel:r· 60 personnel .... ill be i!l.volved~ With the
cooperation of He~lett-Packard Company: the training scenario, a
hostage situation, ~ill be held at 3172 Porter Drive ifi Palo Alto,
between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.
The location is in the Industrial Park area ~here adjacent busi
nesses are normally closed during those hours. All cvmpanies in
the ~urrounding area ~ill be notified of the training exercise a
~eek in advance~
The purpose of the exercise is to train with allied agencies in a
critical i.ncident sit',Jatic-n, to practice searching large ccmmercial
buildings, to test the mutual .:aid radio system! and to enhance
skills in all phases of a criticc:l:l incident situation, including
n~gotiations. ~eriroeter setup, evacuation, search, and commanc post
operations.
